day 0 - Biarritz, Bayonne and the village i'm in now

so i landed fine, so did my bag, so far so good!
Blandine, the girl from hospitalityclub promised to pick me up at 7 pm so while waiting, i got aqcuainted with Brian, who ordered a taxi that will drive him to SJPP tonight and he was looking for people to share the 65 euro with. Well i was waiting for B, so i said no, but Vivienne, an Irish girl joined us and she buddied up quickly with Brian. While i was discussing this with them, i saw an old Renault passing by in front of the terminal 3 times and looking for someone. I ran after the car, afraid that it's Blandine and she doesn' t see me. It was strange that she didn't look more but i thought it's possible it's her. She didn't come back for the 4th time but i let Brian and Vivienne go with the taxi as it was not 7pm yet...

Well, 7pm came and so did 7:15 and i started kicking myself that i let the taxi go to SJPP (where i wanted to be tonight but there were no buses after 6pm when the plane landed and tomorrow's bus would get me there just a bit too late to start the first leg)... David was trying to keep my spirits up but i was convinced she won't show up.. The last bus leaves at 7:30 from the airport so i'll have to go in a few minutes :(( And ta-damm, she showed up at 7:20 :))) I jumped in her neck :)))

And what's more, she's sooo nice it's amazing :)) She drove me around Bayonne then took me to her father's house where she lives now - man, he lives on a hilltop, with a view to the mountains and forrests and with a green field in front of the house :)) Lovely dinner of pork and ratatouille and talks - the father, who's about 70, did the camino 5 years ago, to see if he can do it :P He did it in 30 days, SJPP to Santiago de Compostela. To compare, i expected myself to do it in ca 35 days :P
Oh yes: B offered to give me a lift to SJPP tomorrow, it's an hour away from here :)) So i'll be there early enough in the end :))

Blandine's brother, Tomas, is here too and he's great too (runs in the family it seems) :) I had some very good ideas from Blandine and Tomas, they both do things that i'm very interested in, so i'm very happy with the first day overall, even if something broke on my boots (nothing vital, i'll be able to use them). Balance: 2 nice pilgrims that i'll probably meet on the way, 1 very cool family and 1 good decision :)
Bon nuit!

---I asked later, the father is 73 now so he was 68 when did it, no problem---

According to Google, Bayonne locals build shopping malls while wearing suits! Is this true???

  6. You would have wanted to marry this guy, he was so cool: living on the hilltop with a dog, speaking Basque and doing the Camino for fun. He can even cook.

I wouldn't want to marry him of course.
